The Gabriele Palmas winery is located a few miles from Alghero. The farm is run according to traditional methods by Gabriele, Simona and their eldest son Giuseppe, who is in charge of sales.
Their work is more than just a profession – it is a way of life. Their home is also located on the estate, where they welcome all those who want to discover their company and taste their wines as “part of the family”.
In a hilly landscape covering 70 hectares (173 acres), the rows of vines occupy about 15 hectares (37 acres) and stretch out between olive groves and Mediterranean scrub.
The building where the vinification and all the wine-making activities take place overlooks the vineyard and is reminiscent of an old farmhouse with wooden vaults.
The grapes are harvested by hand and are immediately taken to the cellar for vinification.
The vineyard’s southwestern exposure provides good ventilation and the sun’s rays ensure that the grapes ripen to perfection.
The sandy clay soil, which has a high content of rock fragments, limits the yield per hectare and guarantees a high level of quality.
The five wines currently produced by the Palmas winery are the result of these optimal natural conditions. Two native single-varietal wines, Vermentino di Sardegna DOP and Cannonau di Sardegna DOP; alongside international varieties with Sardinian character: Alghero Cabernet DOP (single-varietal and aged in steel); Alghero Cabernet DOP “Riserva” (aged for thirty months in barriques and steel) and the elegant Syrah IGP Isola Dei Nuraghi (single-varietal and aged in steel).
The simple and informative labels tell the story of the land – the symbol of the city of Sassari with its Aragonese tower and the Sardinian button – and are available in various colors to distinguish the different grape varieties. The name of the producer on the label of every bottle of wine guarantees its full traceability.
The production of about twenty thousand bottles is sold exclusively through the HO.RE.CA. channel in Italy and abroad.
